Bike & Trekking magazine conducted a test of 450 km, which was released in the May issue of the Dutch magazine. Read here, what the editor says about our wheels.

Carbon “knalhoepels”

"We can hear you think, yet another wheel brand? That’s what we thought as well, but not anymore, after riding a couple hundreds of kilometers with the CAMERIG 44’s from ZEAL. ZEAL is a Dutch-German brand with, for now, one road wheel set and one MTB wheel set in the catalogue, although available for tubular, clincher and tubeless and for rim + disc brake (road wheels) and with standard or Boost hubs and Centerlock or IS rotors (MTB wheels). So, something for everyone.

The CAMERIGS already surprise when unpacking. The unorthodox rim profile is robust and edgy, but that’s because ZEAL has chosen for a Kamm Tail profile, for aerodynamic purposes. Good looking for sure. The wheels breath no-nonsense quality, with DT-Swiss 240s hubs, Sapim CX Ray spokes (CX on the rear drive side!) en engraved logo’s. On the road, our tubular test wheels run just as the high-tech hoops promise to run. Coming from Dura Ace wheels with tubeless tires, the difference isn’t really in the comfort (tubeless tires run more or less as smooth as tubulars), but certainly in the incredibly high stiffness of the ZEALs. Result: noticeably more forward power. Also in the corners you benefit from such a solid construction. The wheels act like a CNC controlled robot!

Strong are the CAMERIG44’s as well, concluding from riding over a long gravel section. We also noticed there that the 44mm deep rims on bad road surfaces are less forgiving. They prefer asphalt. A note before buying these wheels; the 25,1mm wide rims might not fit between all brake calipers. Just check before buying.

Conclusion: Great looking, strong and fast. The first ZEAL road wheels are good value for money for € 1.399"
